Wolverines touch football season cancelled

WEST CARLETON – the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) is making adjustments to the upcoming football season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As you may know the City of Ottawa has closed all of its sports fields until June 30,” NCAFA President Gawain Harding released in a statement yesterday (April 6). “The NCAFA board of governors is in full support of that decision. As such we have cancelled our 2020 girls touch and co-ed flag football programs. The league will look at staging one or two tournaments for girls touch and co-ed flag in late July. Fingers crossed.”

The Wolverines Football Club will provide full refunds to anyone who has already signed up for the season.

“As for our 2020 tackle season, we remain optimistic that we will get it going in July,” Harding said. “However, the field closures mean that all NCAFA tackle teams cannot practice or hold team workouts until June 30. On behalf of all NCAFA Presidents and clubs, I would like to thank everyone for your continuing efforts in limiting the spread of COVID-19 by following federal, provincial and municipal health advisories and instructions.”
