West end music teacher charged with multiple child sex offences


OTTAWA – Ottawa police have arrested a 56-year-old west end music teacher and charged him with 10 counts of sexually related offences.

“The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section has charged an Ottawa man with 10 offences after an investigation,” the OPS released in a statement today (Aug. 2) “The investigation began in May into historical reports of sexual assault.”

Gerard Loehr, 56-years-old of Ottawa, has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual interference.

The charges relate to five separate victims, all of them children, dating back to 2000.

“Between 2000 and 2003, Loehr taught middle school level music in the west end of Ottawa,” the OPS said. “He also instructed privately in his home.”
