West Carleton’s manufacturing hub’s AGM Jan. 19

CARP – Ottawa’s largest light industry business park will be meeting virtually Jan. 19 to discuss the year that was and the year that will, using the common technology of today’s business meetings.

The Carp Road Corridor Business Improvement Area (CRCBIA) is hosting its annual general meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, Jan. 19 starting at 7:30 a.m.

“The AGM provides members with an opportunity hear about business association activities and provide their own advice on priorities,” CRCBIA executive director Roddy Bolivar released in a statement.

The AGM will also provide the opportunity for CRCBIA members to approve the annual budget. The motion being presented Jan. 19 will call for a $125,000, 2021 budget – which is the same amount as the 2020 budget. The budget is assessed as a levy to all property owners based on the assessed value of their property. The CRCBIA also regularly installs a levy cap of 1.25 per cent of the budget. That cap affects roughly the 17 “mostly highly valued properties in the corridor.”

The Carp Road Corridor is Ottawa’s largest light industry business park. CRCBIA works with more than 370 business and property owner members to improve business opportunities in the area and attract new business members to the area.
