WCSA Championship Day
CARP – The weather was warm and sunny and West Carleton’s young legion of softball players took over all the Carp ball diamonds for the West Carleton Softball Association’s (WCSA) Championship Day last Saturday (June 22).
The leagues has almost wrapped up for the season save but a few of the older divisions still in playoffs, but Championship Day is the final day for age groups U14 to U8 and more than 17 ball games were played with a barbecue thrown in for good measure.
The WCSA doesn’t keep score for U10 or U8 teams, but it’s game on for the older groups.
The U12 finals featured Carp 1 versus Carp 2 in the B Final, while Fitzroy battled Kinburn for the A Final.
Kinburn defeated Fitzroy 10-4 for the A championship, while Carp 1 defeated Carp 2 11-9 for the B Final.
In U14 Kinburn 2 took on Fitzroy for the A final with Fitzroy winning in close one 7-6. Constance Bay defeated Carp for the B Final.
“What a great day for softball,” WCSA volunteer and coach Adam Brown said. “The kids had fun and we thank the coaches for volunteering.”
