WC expecting good soaking tonight

WEST CARLETON – Farmers’ prayers have been answered as West Carleton is expected to receive a huge rainfall this evening.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement this morning calling for 50 to 70 millimetres of rain starting this evening.

“The remnants of Tropical Storm Fay will move northward across southern Quebec today (July),” Environment Canada released in a statement. “Locally heavy rainfall will be possible, particularly during the afternoon and evening. While it is difficult at this time to specify exact rainfall amounts, locally heavy amounts in the 50 to 70 mm range will be possible by Sunday morning.”

Environment Canada advises the public to monitor forecasts for further details. Weather can be found on West Carleton Online in the top left corner of any page on the site.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” Environment Canada said. “Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.”
