Warriors win Kanata bantam tournament
KANATA – The West Carleton B1 bantam Warriors won last weekend’s 2020 Kanata Bantam charity Tournament after taking the road undefeated to the trophy.
The non-contact tournament was held Friday, Feb. 21 to 23 and two West Carleton teams did will in the 12-team B Division. Playing alongside the bantam B1 team was the bantam B Warrior team. Both West Carleton teams went undefeated in the three-game round robin opening for a combined 6-0 record.
The B1 Warriors were offensive juggernauts scoring 21 goals in three games and allowing only three. The B Warriors were the only team to allow fewer goals in the opening round – only two players in the tournament were able to find the back of the net.
The B Warriors beat the Stittsville Rams, Nepean and the Kanata Jackals in round robin before falling to the Nepean Devils 2-1 on the semi-finals.
The B1 Warriors beat the Ottawa Centre bantam team (8-0), Nepean Devils (6-3) and the Kanata Bandits (7-0) to go to the finals.
The Warriors beat Richmond 4-1 in the semi-ginals and defeated the Devils in a rematch 4-1 to win the B Division.
