Warriors tornado work not done yet
DUNROBIN – The Good Deed Cup winners knew they would be on tornado duty for the long haul. Now that the nice weather is hopefully here, the team is dropping the gloves, rolling up their sleeves and helping to clean up the community.
The Dunrobin Community Association is organizing a weekend long clean up of the community as there is still a fair amount of debris littering the landscape from the Sept. 21, 2018 tornado. The clean up will happen Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this weekend.
The Warriors are hosting a clean-up party called Warriors Clean Up Dunrobin in conjuction with the weekend. It is part of a scheduled weekend of cleaning up the community organized by Saturday, June 8 starting at 9 a.m. at the Dunrobin Community Centre.
“There is still so much to be done,” organizers released in
a statement. “Join the West Carleton Warriors Peewee A team to continue the
amazing work volunteers did last fall. We need all the Warriors teams,
their families and the amazing supporters of our run for the Good Deeds Cup to
come and help. There are still so many items to recover and a huge amount of
debris left to clear away. “
On top of manpower, organizers are asking for some people with chainsaws,
trucks and trailers and “we will need safety gear for volunteers.”
“Please let us know if you are interested in joining us and if you have any special supplies you can bring,” organizers said.
