OTTAWA VALLEY – More than 5,000 people in the Ottawa Valley woke up to a lack of electricity.

Hydro One is reporting a power outage that sweeps from Pembroke to Arnprior, with the bulk of the outages in the Whitewater Region and Greater Madawaska Township.

Crews are currently working on the problem and hope to have the lights back on by 11:30 a.m. Small pockets may see their power returned around 11 a.m., while other customers towards the Upper Ottawa Valley may be left in the dark until shortly after noon. There are a few outages in the Pontiac as well that should have been resolved by 10:30 a.m.
