Two men caught building homemade gun in Nepean

NEPEAN —The Ottawa police Guns and Gangs Unit seized a crime gun and arrested two men following the execution of a search warrant in the 1-100 block of Palmadeo Dr. last Saturday (May 23).

“The search resulted in the seizure of information indicating how to construct a machine pistol, a partially-constructed machine pistol and several blank rounds used for testing purposes,” the Ottawa Police Service released in a statement. “Furthermore, the officers discovered a makeshift machine shop in the garage of the residence.”

Hazem Elashry, 18-years-old and Andi Iacob, 20-years-old, both of Ottawa, were charged with:

Unauthorised Manufacture of a firearm

Unlawful possession of a Firearm

Iacob was further charged with breaching a probation order in relation to a similar offence.

This weapon is one of 52 crime guns seized in Ottawa so far this year.
