Tree-selling firefighters need snacks
CORKERY – Yesterday West Carleton Online reported Corkery volunteer firefighters will be selling Christmas trees, as they do every year, starting Dec. 7. Well, they’re going to need snacks.
What is becoming a sub-tradition, the Corkery Community Association (CCA) has put out their annual call to support the firefighters by bringing them snacks.
“We need volunteers to prepare a total of four batches of snacks to bring to the firefighters selling trees in December (Dec 7, 8, 14 and 15),” The CCA released in a statement today (Nov. 20). “There will be four firefighters each day. Ideally snacks will be delivered in between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.”
The tree sale raises funds for the volunteer firefighters’ association and allows them to host special events throughout the year. Part of the revenue from the sale of trees is contributed to the CCA to fund fireworks for Canada Day.
