CONSTANCE BAY – Known for hosting yoga on the beach, Victoria Lefebre can now bring yogis right in to her studio.

Lefebre has added a small six-person studio to her home-based office on Spinnaker Way in Constance Bay. Tree Pose Yoga officially opened its new space in January, an intimate studio created to host a small class.

“I like smaller, more private classes,” yoga instructor Lefebre told West Carleton Online from her home office last week (March 4). “My background as a registered massage and rehabilitative therapist has taught me to appreciate the smaller classes and make sure I can focus on the students doing it right.”

Lefebre has been teaching health and fitness for 13 years and added yoga instruction to her repertoire about two years ago.

“Yoga came in to my life to help rehab a severe back injury,” she said. “Then I started to notice the connection between mind, body and spirit. That’s when I decided to do my yoga teacher training. Yoga forces you to look in to your breath and address your stress levels and your anxiety. Often the issues in your tissues has an emotional side.”

Lefebre, who is originally from the Toronto area, moved to the Bay from Kanata North about two years ago.

“We’d been trying to move to Constance Bay since we got stationed here,” Lefebre said. “Townhouses are not our style. It’s beautiful here. You can connect with nature here. It just smells better.”

Lefebre hosted last year’s very popular Yoga at the Beach series in Constance Bay last year.

“We have perfect beaches for that and that will be back this summer,” she said. “We’ve already had many requests.”

Lefebre is also bringing her skills outside of Constance Bay this spring. Tree Pose Yoga will be hosting a retreat at the Carp Ridge EcoWellness Centre June 1 weekend which includes an overnight stay Saturday.

There will be workshops, yoga in the yurt, meditations and readings with special guests.

“We’re actually taking over the whole place,” Lefebre said. “I’m so excited.”
