Transition from freezing rain to heavy snow expected Saturday
WEST CARLETON – How can you tell it’s the weekend in West Carleton? Because Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement.
And that statement is calling for freezing rain Saturday (Jan. 25) afternoon to heavy snow by evening.
“Precipitation will move into the area Saturday afternoon,” Environment Canada released in a statement just before 10 a.m. this morning. “This precipitation will most likely begin as a period of freezing rain before transitioning to rain near the St. Lawrence River or snow near the Ottawa River Saturday evening.”
All areas will transition to snow Saturday night. The snow will then continue into Sunday with up to 10 centimetres of accumulation possible by Sunday afternoon (Jan. 26).
Freezing rain or snowfall warnings may be required as details become more clear.
