Traffic stop leads seized gun, drugs and an arrest

OTTAWA – A routine Friday night traffic stop turned up a gun and drugs and a pile of charges to an Ottawa man.

On March 1, at approximately 11:30 p.m., frontline officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Carling Avenue. During the interaction with the driver, the male driver was placed under arrest and charged for drug and weapons offences. Ottawa police seized a shotgun, drugs and Canadian currency.

Dimisteris Voulgaridis, 28-years-old of Ottawa, is facing nine charges related to the firearm and two charges of failure to comply with an undertaking. Voulgaridis attended show cause court on Saturday. He was remanded in custody until his future court date.
