Threats, impaired driving headline Renfrew County weekly OPP report
RENFREW COUNTY – From June 15 to June 21 the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 226 calls for service.
Arnprior and Renfrew constables investigated four domestic disputes during the past week.

On June 24, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a dispute call on Third Avenue, in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of an investigation, Brandon Lackey, 28 of Arnprior has been charged with assault and mischief under $5000. The accused was held for a bail hearing on June 24.
Four Renfrew County residents will be attending court for impaired driving related charges.
On June 24, officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Harriet Street in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey Currie, 25 of McNab-Braeside Township, has been charged with impaired driving. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
On June 24, an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in McNab-Braeside Township. A traffic stop was initiated on Burnstown Road and as a result of the investigation, Anne Carswell, 52 of McNab-Braeside Township, has been charged with impaired driving, driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80 and breach of probation. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
On June 24, an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in McNab-Braeside Township. A traffic stop was initiated on White Lake Road and as a result of the investigation, Ian Helmes, 31 of Mississippi Mills, has been charged with impaired driving and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
On June 28, an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Renfrew. A traffic stop was initiated on O’Brien Road and as a result of the investigation, Mildred Shean, 50 of Renfrew, has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
A Renfrew County OPP investigation has led to sexual misconduct charges for a Lanark County man.
On June 24, the Renfrew County Crime unit began an investigation into allegations of inappropriate activity. As a result of an investigation, Braedon Kauffeldt 22 of Greater Madawaska Township, has been charged with:
- Sexual interference (three counts),
- Invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age (three counts),
- Transmit sexually explicit material to a person under 16 years of age,
- Luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication and
- Indecent exposure to a person under 16 years of age.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Sept. 16.
On June 28, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a threats call on River Road in McNab-Braeside Township. Officers located the accused who then fled on foot from the officers. As a result of the investigation, Owen Jones, 22 of McNab/Braeside Township has been charged with uttering threats, failure to comply with undertaking and escape lawful custody. The accused was held for a bail hearing on June 29.
