Third time’s the charm for FHCA AGM

FITZROY HARBOUR – The third time is the charm, for the Fitzroy Harbour Community Association (FHCA) as its annual general meeting moves online Thursday, March 11.

“The FHCA annual general meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, March 11 at 7 p.m.,” the FHCA released in a statement yesterday (Jan. 24). “More info will be provided soon on how to participate. All community members are welcome to attend.”

The FHCA was forced to cancel two previous AGMs in 2020 – a clear sign of the times. The FHCA usually holds its AGMs in spring but cancelled the March 26-scheduled meeting as the pandemic started to pick up steam in Canada.

The FHCA re-scheduled its 2019 AGM for Oct. 13. The plan was to hold it outside, underneath the picnic shelter, physically distanced. But rising infections and new government restrictions forced the FHCA to reschedule again.

The new March 11 meeting will now be an AGM for both 2019 and 2020 – a year in which almost all the FHCA’s fundraising and community events were cancelled by the global pandemic.

The FHCA also hopes to fill a few director positions at the March 11 meeting.

“FHCA executive positions available – if you would like to volunteer please email president@fitzroyharbour.com,” the FHCA said. “Find out about 2019 and 2020 successes and our plans going forward. The FHCA volunteer executive works hard to make your village a great place to live – come participate in the meeting to show your support.”

Fitzroy rink now open

“The FHCA outdoor rink is now open,” the FHCA said. “Please refer to the COVID-19 rules below from the City of Ottawa regarding outdoor rink usage. Note the rink will be unsupervised this year and the hall won’t be open. Skaters can change in the outdoor sheltered area.”
