Tay Valley man facing charges following death of passenger

BECKWITH TOWNSHIP – A 27-year-old man is facing charges after his vehicle went through the ice and killing the passenger in his car.

Police confirmed the charges today (March 11), after an investigation into the Jan. 6 incident on Mississippi Lake in Beckwith Township. Kory Bell of Tay Valley township is charged with one count of operation of a conveyance causing death and one count of dangerous operation causing death. He was released to appear at provincial court in the Town of Perth.

The 31-year-old male victim from Drummond North Elmsley Township was killed in the early morning hours of Jan. 6, when the vehicle he was riding in went through the ice near Craig Shore. His body was recovered by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
