Take the WC garden tour June 15
WEST CARLETON – Do you want to see what is growing in gardens in our area?
The West Carleton Garden Club is hosting a local garden tour on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in and around the Carp area.
Nine locations are on the tour for ticket holders to view the gardens of Carp area residents, a few local businesses and a community garden. KIN Vineyards is also on the tour and a Victoria tea is being provided at the Huntley Mess Hall, all included in the cost of the ticket ($20). Proceeds from the tour will go towards the purchase of a new garden bench for the Memorial Hall in Carp.
“Gardens on the tour have been chosen to show what can be done in gardens on various property sizes, with different purposes and growing conditions,” club member and West Carleton Online garden columnist Anne Gadbois said. “From the sprawling acreage surrounding a lake, to typical suburban residential properties (large and small), to the gardens adjacent to the head office of a local business, to a community garden – the tour is meant to showcase their different approaches and unique ideas. Water features, shade gardens, vegetable gardens, exotic plants, come and see.”
All of this and a Victorian Tea (tea, sandwiches and sweet cakes) make for a tempting day out in the West Carleton area.
Tickets with the full addresses of the gardens to be visited are available now at Bee You Creative Styles & Expressions, 3775 Carp Rd., 613-301-7314 (next to Alice’s)
Tickets will also be available, on the morning of June 15, at the Huntley Mess Hall, 2240 Craig Side Rd.
“We look forward to seeing you on the tour around the gardens on June 15,” Gadbois said. “Tickets must be presented at each garden for entry.”
