Suspect arrested in middle of Barrhaven break-in

OTTAWA – A young teen came face-to-face with a surprise intruder when he returned home Tuesday afternoon (April 2).

On Tuesday, a Barrhaven resident arrived at home in the early afternoon and confronted a male suspect already inside the home. The 15-year-old resident exited the home and immediately called 911.

Frontline officers arrived on scene quickly in the 1-100 block of Southam Way in Barrhaven and located the male suspect who was still in the home. The male was arrested without incident.

Yezen Al-Katta, 18-years-old of Ottawa, is charged with break and enter, mischief under $5,000 and possession of break and enter instruments. Al-Katta will be in court on May 6.

Break and Enter Investigators are asking residents in the area to check there home security footage for any suspicious persons that might have come to the door or passed in front of the home. Anyone with information or security footage regarding these incidents is asked to contact the West Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 2655.
