Stonecrest principal’s goodbye send-off
KINBURN – It was a multi-car salute as Stonecrest Elementary School Principal Cindy Alce wrapped up her career in education with the typical send-off of the COVID-19 era.
Students, parents, staff and educators came out to say goodbye to Alce who is retiring from education and threw the popular principal a multi-vehicle parade Thursday (June 25) morning. Alce came to Stonecrest in the fall of 2017 and has been principal ever since.
Fitzroy Harbour-based Stonecrest teacher Lisa Dolan, one of the organizers of the retirement parade, says it was a long line of vehicles and she is not surprised.
“It was a huge turn out,” Dolan told West Carleton Online last Friday (June 26). “She truly was a fantastic principal. She knew every students’ name in the entire school, all of the parents and most of the grandparents. She turned the morale around over her time there.”
Stonecrest’s Marcy Storms is also sad to see the principal go.
“Stonecrest says goodbye to our energetic, and well-loved principal,” Storms said, “Students, staff, and parents will miss her enthusiasm, passion for love of learning, and ever-present smile. A Buddy Bench will be placed in our schoolyard for all students to enjoy Mrs. Alce’s values of acceptance and friendship.”
