Stonecrest celebrates 20, May 9

KINBURN – It’s a noon-hour celebration as Stonecrest Elementary School celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The first students to graduate from Stonecrest are now in their 30s, and that in itself is hard to believe. But students, staff and graduates of all ages are invited to join Stonecrest on Thursday, May 9 starting at 12:30 p.m. to celebrate.

“In honour of this exciting event the staff and students have been busy to prepare for this special occasion,” music and art teacher Nicole Vaillancourt-Hass told West Carleton Online. “Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 have all been preparing special artwork for their classrooms and the hallways. Many guests have been invited including former principals, teachers and local officials. During the assembly a special reveal will take place in the gym along with drawing the name for the winner of our 20th Anniversary raffle cake.”

The event kicks off with an assembly in the school gym. Following the official ceremony guests are invited to tour the school, visit classrooms and enjoy an open house including cupcakes.

Music will also be a part of the celebration.

“A choir has been preparing a ‘Glorious’ song accompanied by the talented Robert Morrisette, Charlotte and Bennett Van Barr,” said Vallaincourt-Hass who has taught as Stonecrest for the last 13 years.

There will also be special 20th anniversary clothing available for purchase (or you can visit their online store here).
