Stocking Project, serving Carp, launches for 2019

CARP – The Stocking Project has launched for 2019 and looking for referrals.

The premise behind The Stocking Project is simple: ask friends, neighbours, colleagues and family for referrals to people who may need a little helping hand. The target for this project is people who would normally not ask for help, those who would not attempt to solicit help from an agency of any kind and those who likely tell very few people they need help.

“Do you know a worthy recipient?” organizer Crystal Smalldon released in a statement today (Nov. 26). “Do they live in Kanata, Carp, Stittsville or Bells Corners? Did they have a really challenging year? Is someone in their family sick? Have they been working but just can’t get ahead? Please submit them to The Stocking Project 2019 Kanata, Carp and Stittsville for a stocking. It’s really a gift bag but who’s checking, right? We would love to Elf up a stocking for them and surprise them with gifts.”

You can refer a friend, family member, colleague, or neighbour, but no self-referrals are accepted and the recipient must be within the boundaries mentioned above.

“They must not be using any other city service as they would be someone who normally would be making the donations but this year, that just isn’t possible and they need a little Christmas cheer,” Smalldon said. “Thanks for thinking of those around you. We can’t even wait to surprise them.”

To refer someone fill out the official intake form of the 2019 Stocking Project Kanata Carp & Stittsville. Delivery day for stockings will be Dec. 20 to 22 and will be completed by the project’s Elf Team. Nominations are accepted until Dec. 15 at midnight.

“Referral opportunities may be people who had a death in the family, loss of a job not at one’s own fault, a sick relative, or someone who just needs a little Christmas cheer because of extenuating circumstances this year,” Smalldon said. “The Stocking Project depends on community members to refer their friends, neighbours and colleagues as project recipients.”

IF your referral is refused you will receive an email. If you do not hear from us, your referral has been accepted. Inquiries can be made to KanataStockings@outlook.com
