Stittsville carjacking ends in arrest
STITTSVILLE — Erratic driving left a trail for police as one man is arrested following a late night carjacking.
Ottawa Police Services (OPS) frontline officers responded to a carjacking in the 5000 block of Hazeldean Road at 11:50 p.m. last night.
“A male suspect had taken the victim’s keys and stolen his
vehicle,” Ottawa police released in a statement today (May 23). “Responding
officers located the vehicle a short distance away following several calls to
911 about an erratic driver in the area. Officers were able to stop the vehicle
and arrest the male suspect without incident.”
Ernest Schuhknecht, 41-years-old of no fixed address has been charged with
several counts related to the crime including Robbery, impaired and dangerous
driving, and theft for a total of nine charges.
He is scheduled to appear in court today.
