St. Mike’s Thanksgiving donation

FITZROY HARBOUR – St. Michael’s Catholic School Fitzroy Harbour students showed their understanding of the Thanksgiving culture and donated a cornucopia full of food to the West Carleton Food Access Centre (WCFAC).

The school held a Thanksgiving Food Drive in the lead up to the long weekend.

“It is truly humbling to see the amazing support of the St. Michael Fitzroy school community as they donated more than 400 non-perishable food items to the West Carleton Food Access Centre,” Principal Penny Zorn said. “The food collected on our whole school graph was literally off the chart.”

Students loaded up a pick-up truck full of food on Thursday, Oct. 10 and dropped the donation off at the WCFAC that afternoon.

While the older students were hard at work sorting and delivering an awesome food donation, Kindergarten students headed down to Fitzroy Provincial Park for a fall hike as part of the outdoor education curriculum led by Kindergarten early childhood education Susanne Wilson.
