St. George corn roast Hudson’s delicious debut

FITZROY HARBOUR – It was a beautiful day to kick off corn season.

St. George’s Anglican Church’s annual corn roast was held on the church lawn Saturday, Aug. 17 and for many it was the debut of Hudson’s Sweet Corn. It’s been a tough season for growing crops this year following an extremely wet spring that prevented farmers from getting their equipment on their fields and lacked sun, followed by an extremely long dry period.

But Hudson’s Sweet Corn finally hit the stands last week and was ready just in time for the St. George corn roast.

Coun. Eli El-Chantiry commandeered the barbecue and kept the hamburgers and hot dogs coming.

The event is a fundraiser for the church.
