Six-week festive RIDE campaign nets 10 charges in the Valley

OTTAWA VALLEY – The almost six-week-long Festive RIDE campaign wrapped up last week and 10 drivers were charged for impaired driving related offences in the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment area.

The OPP held 131 RIDE checks from Nov. 23 to Jan. 2, and the 10 charges laid were for impaired driving, over 80 milligrams or refusal to provide a breath sample.

In addition, three drivers had their licenses suspended for registering a warn on the roadside screening device. Although the campaign has ended, the OPP warn that RIDE programs will continue to be held throughout the year, at any time of day or night.
