Single-vehicle rollover on Donald B. Munro
CARP -Ottawa firefighters rescued a driver trapped in her car after failing to navigate the curve on Donald B. Munro Drive at William Hodgins Lane this evening (April 8).
Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call from the driver of a single vehicle that rolled over into a ditch. Crews were dispatched to the scene.
“The driver was trapped in her vehicle and needed to have a door removed,” Ottawa Fire Services public information officer Danielle Cardinal said in a release. “We would like to thank the following agencies who collaborated with us to manage this incident: Ottawa Paramedic Service and the Ottawa Police Service . Our work together is based on trust, cooperation and a group commitment to service excellence and safety.”
Cardinal had some advice for anyone trapped in their vehicle.
“If you are involved in a collision and find yourself trapped, call 911 if you are able to,” Cardinal said. “Tell the dispatcher that you are trapped in your vehicle. Answer their questions as best as you can and follow their instructions. Keep your seatbelt on until firefighters arrive, especially if you happen to be upside down. You don’t want to fall and further injure yourself or someone else who is in the vehicle with you.”
