Sign up for the MVCA wildlife watchers camp

CARLETON PLACE— A sure sign summer is on the way is that registration for Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority’s (MVCA) highly anticipated Wildlife Watchers Day Camp opens Monday, March 4 at 10 a.m.

The camp, which runs for one week intervals from July to August, offers theme days related to the natural environment for children ages six to 11 and takes place at the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area.

“Campers will have the opportunity to explore plants, wildlife, insects, habitats and water through a variety of games, activities, arts and crafts, stories and much more,” said MVCA education coordinator Sarah O’Grady. “They will experience a nature immersion program, while learning the importance of conservation and stewardship.”

The cost per child per week is $185. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine with before and after care available for an additional fee. Camp is run by experienced outdoor educators who are trained in First Aid and CPR.

“I have been receiving a lot of inquiries about the camps already with many prior participants eager to sign up before the camps are full,” said Ms. O’Grady. “I strongly advise registering early at www.mvc.on.ca  to avoid disappointment.”

MVCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario. Formed in 1968, MVCA’s mandate is to manage the watershed’s resources in partnership with our 11-member municipalities and the Province of Ontario.
