Serious accident closes Burnstown Road Dec. 30

GREATER MADAWASKA – Burnstown Road was closed for several hours yesterday (Dec. 30) as emergency responders attended to a serious motor vehicle collision.

“The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the assistance of a technical collision investigator is investigating a serious, single motor vehicle collision,” OPP media relations officer Const. Tina Hunt released in a statement today (Dec. 31).

On Dec. 30, shortly after 4:30 p.m. police, along with Renfrew County Paramedics and fire services responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Burnstown Road in the Township of Horton. 

“A female driver, aged 61 years old, was the lone occupant in the vehicle and was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries,” Hunt said.

The road was closed for multiple hours during the investigation and has since re-opened.
