FITZROY HARBOUR – A COVID-safe Santa will hit the high seas of the Ottawa River this weekend to make sure the border crossing residents of the Ottawa River make his Nice List in time for Christmas.

The Quyon Ferry will be hosting the Jolly Big Red Guy Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“The Big Guy stopped by,” Quyon staff released in a statement Dec. 5. “Said he’ll be back. Get a picture (with your own camera) while you cross.”

Santa dropped by the ferry Dec. 5 to get the lay of the land so to speak and is looking forward to being aboard The Grant Beattie for safe photos and tips for wish lists. Quyon Ferry staff are encouraging photos but you have to provide your own camera (and photographer).

Currently, the ferry and is on weather watch as the season gets colder. Quyon Ferry staff report the ferry will be in operation at least until Dec. 13. Hours are Sunday to Thursday until 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m.
