CARP – Take your sweetie to one of the most interesting buildings in West Carleton.

The Aquatopia Water Garden Conservatory is one of the most beautiful, unique buildings in West Carleton and this year will host you and your date for a romantic Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14) that will surely seal the deal.

The conservatory is situated on 9.5 wooded hectares just off Hwy. 417 on March Road. Inside the mostly glass building is a tropical garden centre oasis with lush foliage, natural stone floors, aquatic features and a unique contemporary architectural design – it is one of the most popular wedding destinations and event venue spots in the Ottawa area.

The conservatory is built over two underground rivers and the land’s ground water table is so high, the building is essentially floating on water which helps recharge the aquifers and the pond. Almost all of the building material was sourced locally, and the conservatory boasts 1,046 panes of glass.

Inside the conservatory large and small rooms are covered with water features and gardens.

On Valentine’s Day the conservatory will host an incredible four-course menu starts off with oysters, beet ceviche and goat cheese.

Options for your main include bison tenderloin and shiitake mushroom gnocchi or seared sea bass, lemon-herbed risotto or vegan cannelloni and roasted sweet potato. Finish the meal off with red velvet cheesecake.

The evening also includes cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres starting at 6 p.m. (dinner to start at 7 p.m.) live jazz music and dancing until midnight.
