Renfrew OPP use spike belt in one of several impaired driving cases
RENFREW COUNTY – The roads were a dangerous place in Renfrew County as police issued several impaired motorist charges over the last week.
Between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30 the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 243 calls for service.
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 10 domestic disputes during the past week. One accused has been charged with one count of assault

On Aug. 24, officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a single motor vehicle accident on Foresters Falls Road, Whitewater Region Township. As a result of the investigation, Marc Godbour, 23 of Mono, has been charged with impaired driving, and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Oct. 7.
On Aug. 27, an officer of the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting stationary patrol on Daniel Street South in the Town of Arnprior. The officer initiated a traffic stop of a motor assisted bicycle. As a result of the investigation, Shawn McLaren, 42 of McNab-Braeside Township, has been charged with impaired driving, and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Oct. 7.
On Aug. 28, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 17.
“The vehicle was located, however the driver failed to stop when emergency lights were activated by police,” Paterson said. “The vehicle was later intercepted, and a tire deflation device was successfully deployed. The vehicle was stopped on Gillan Road.”
As a result of the investigation, Sasha Clow, 24 of the City of Ottawa, has been charged with impaired driving, driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80, flight from peace officer, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Sept. 16.
On August 29, 2020 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a traffic complaint in the Township of Greater Madawaska. The vehicle was later located and stopped on O’Gorman Avenue in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of the investigation Taylor Bahm, 21 of the Township of Greater Madawaska was charged with driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80 and two counts of fail to comply with probation order. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Sept. 16.
On Aug. 29, officers form the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a single motor vehicle accident on Division Street in the Township of McNab-Braeside. As a result of the investigation Adam Dubois, 28 of the Town of Renfrew has been charged with impaired driving and driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Oct. 7.
On Aug. 29, officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment were dispatched to a disturbance on Daniel Street South in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation Adam Sheldrick, 42 of Arnprior, has been charged with driving with blood alcohol concentration over 80 and obstruct peace officer. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Sept. 16.
On Aug. 30, an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on an ATV on Hogan Drive in the Township of Mc-Nab Braeside. As a result of the investigation, Ryan Hoppin, 36 of Carlton Place, has been charged with operation of motor vehicle while prohibited under the criminal code. The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Oct. 7.
