Renfrew OPP nab pills in traffic stop and weekly round-up
RENFREW – A traffic stop in Renfrew yesterday (June 16) led to a big bag of pills and an arrest.
“The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Renfrew OPP Detachment have seized a quantity of drugs in Renfrew,” OPP media relations coordinator Const. Bill Dickson released in a statement today.
On June 16, 0fficers with the Renfrew OPP conducted a traffic stop on Gillan Road. During the investigation, officers seized a quantity of suspected hydromorphone pills, available only by prescription.
“Members of the Street Crime Unit have also seized the vehicle and the individual’s cell phone,” Dickson said.
Pierro Marinelli, age 50 of Renfrew has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Sept. 2.
During the week of June 7 to June 14, the Renfrew Detachment of the OPP investigated 203 calls for service.
Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated seven domestic disputes during the past week.
One accused has been charged with mischief, assault with a weapon, criminal harassment and three counts of assault.

On June 8, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to an unwanted person call on Raglan Street South, in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of an investigation, Anthony Defazio, 30 of Renfrew, has been charged with two counts of failure to comply with a probation order. The accused was released on an Undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
On June 10, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to an indecent act call in Greater Madawaska Township. As a result of an investigation, Marilyn Sowa, 58 of Greater Madawaska Township has been charged with three counts of indecent act. The accused was released on an undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
On June 14, an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of a traffic stop, Christopher Bacon, 61 of Renfrew, has been charged with operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released on an undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Sept. 16.
On June 12, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a call for service in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of an investigation, Kyle Gilmore, 41 of Renfrew, has been charged with possession of a schedule one substance believed to be methamphetamine. The accused was released on an undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
On June 8, officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a harassment call on Maloney Road in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of an investigation, Brian Barr, 54 of Renfrew, has been charged with:
- Pointing a firearm,
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm,
- Uttering threats,
- Assault with a weapon,
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The accused was released on an undertaking to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on Aug. 19.
