Renfrew County has 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases

RENFREW COUNTY – The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) says another person has tested positive for COVID-19.

The new numbers released at noon yesterday (April 30) show a 16th person in Renfrew County has tested positive for COVID-19. The RCDHU says testing has increased significantly over the past 24-hours with 97 new swabs completed. The previous day the health unit says 56 tests were completed.

The health unit says 120 people are still waiting for test results, up from the 51 people waiting for results Wednesday.

A total of 16 people in Renfrew County have now tested positive for COVID-19 with 12 resolved cases and one death.

Ontario is reporting 86 more deaths from COVID-19 yesterday, the largest daily number so far.

The province also recorded 459 new cases, an increase of 2.9 per cent over Wednesday that brings the provincial total to more than 16,000.

The total includes 1,082 deaths and 10,205 resolved cases.

Figures on COVID-19’s impact in long-term care homes, which come from a separate database than the provincial numbers, show 60 more residents died in the past day.
