Police search for suspected drowning victim in Dalhousie Lake
UPDATE (2:20 p.m., July 21): Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) divers have recovered the body of an Ottawa resident from Dalhousie Lake in Lanark Highlands Township, northwest of Perth.
LANARK COUNTY – A search continues today (July 21) for an individual who went missing in Dalhousie Lake, in Lanark Highlands Township, northwest of Perth.
On July 20, shortly after 3:30 p.m., members of the Lanark Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lanark Highlands Fire Service and Rescue and Lanark County Paramedics responded to Dalhousie Lake Beach, also known as Centennial Park. It was reported that a person on a paddleboard had fallen in and had not surfaced.
“The Lanark OPP Marine Unit, firefighters and civilians utilized boats to conduct a search but could not locate the individual,” OPP media relations coordinator Bill Dickson released in a statement today. “He had not been wearing a life jacket.”
The person is a 46-year-old resident of Ottawa. His name is not being released at this time, as his family is not in Canada and is not aware of the incident.
Members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Team will join the search today.
