Police make arrests in two sex cases, two robberies in OPS wrap-up

OTTAWA – Ottawa police made three arrests in three different cases all related to sex crimes over the last few days.

 On Friday, May 31 a member of the public reported to the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) staff that a male was apparently viewing child pornography. At the time of police arrival, the male had left the scene.

On Tuesday, June 4 the same male was observed at the OPL again viewing apparent child pornography. Police were able to locate the male and confirm that the images being viewed met the Criminal Code definition of child pornography.

A 77-year-old male, of Ottawa, is charged with accessing child pornography contrary to the Criminal Code. He appeared at show cause court on Wednesday, June 5.

On June 5, the Ottawa Police Services (OPS) Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Unit charged an Ottawa man with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference on a female as a result of incidents that occurred over several months from January 2018 through to July 2018. The female victim was under the age of 16 at the time.

The incident occurred while the man was in the course of his employment as a water polo coach in Ottawa. The man was alone with the patient at the time. Celso Rojas, 55-years-old, of Ottawa is scheduled to appear in show cause court June 5.

Investigators are concerned that there may be other victims and are asking them to contact police.

On Tuesday, June 4, at approximately 10:10 p.m. Frontline officers attended the 1600 block of Merivale Road in relation to a commercial robbery. The investigation led the officers to a unit in the 200 block of Viewmount Drive.

One of the suspect males was arrested on Viewmount Drive, while the second male was later arrested inside a unit of the 200 block of Viewmount Drive. Both were arrested without incident.

Aaron Pucci, 28-years-old of Ottawa, is facing seven charges related to the robbery. Perry Pucci, 58-years-old of Ottawa, is facing four.

Both appeared in show cause court  on June.

The Ottawa Police’s Break and Enter Unit has arrested a man June 4 in relation to two commercial break and enters, which occurred on May 30 and June 4 in the 400 and 500 blocks of Sussex Drive.

Daniel Landry, 55-years-old, of no fixed address is facing five charges related to the robberies.
