Owner loses linen jacket in surprise sale
ALMONTE – One minute your getting in to the heat of a mad shopping spree and you take your jacket off to cool down. The next, your jacket is gone, sold to an interested buyer for an unbeatable price.
Oops.
That was a Thursday afternoon (Sept. 17) for ‘Jean’ while visiting The Hub in Mississippi Mills. The Hub is a not-for-profit retail store supporting the community of Mississippi Mills.
Founded in 1974, The Hub accepts donations of gently used family fashions, accessories, housewares, books, games and toys. The Rebound Centre sells donated household furniture, appliances and electronics, and also recycles electronics.
Each year The Hub donates more than $50,000 towards hospice care, scholarships, health needs, sport teams, special events, Christmas baskets, Interval House, the Lanark County Food Bank and more. The Hub is operated by volunteers, and is open six days a week.
Meanwhile, Jean just wants her jacket back.
“Please help me find my beige linen ladies jean jacket which was inadvertently sold at the Hub,” Jean (no last name given) said in a public appeal. “On Thursday afternoon Sept. 17, I took my jacket off in the Hub so that I could try another jacket on. I hung my beige jean jacket with silver coloured buttons over the end of the Hub rack and forgot it there. An hour later I went back to get it, but the volunteers told me it had been put on a hanger for sale and someone had bought it.”
If you were at the Bag Sale that day and think you may have purchased it please contact Jean at 613-256-3043.
