Ottawa Riverkeeper AGM Dec. 1
OTTAWA RIVER – The Ottawa Riverkeeper board will recap the year in its Dec. 1 annual general meeting.
Founded in 2001, Ottawa Riverkeeper is a grassroots charity formed to protect, promote and improve the health and future of the Ottawa River and its tributaries.
“Ottawa Riverkeeper works collaboratively to inspire others to take action, to encourage responsible decision making, to hold polluters accountable and to recommend alternative practices and policies to safeguard our local waterways,” the organization released in a statement.
Ottawa Riverkeeper is a member of Waterkeeper Alliance, an international grassroots organization founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“We envision an Ottawa River that is clean and healthy, provides safe drinking water, supports a diverse range of species, invites world-class recreation and enables sustainable economic activity,” the organization said. “The river is appreciated and recognized for its natural capital and is diligently protected for the well-being of all. Future generations are proud to inherit the Ottawa River, and are motivated and inspired to respect and protect it in perpetuity.”
On Dec. 1, starting at 6 p.m., the board will host an online AGM including a presentation wrapping up the year.
“Every year we host an annual public meeting, a chance for you, our supporters, to find out what we’ve been working on in the past year, ask your questions, and let us know what you think needs to be a priority issue in the watershed,” the Ottawa Riverkeeper said. “This year we’ll be holding the event virtually. Join us for a 45-minute comprehensive update on what Ottawa Riverkeeper achieved in the past year.”
Following the live presentation, the organization will host a virtual ‘afterparty’ for its community.
“Sign up for one of a selection of smaller Q & A sessions with our staff to get your burning questions answered and meet your fellow river lovers, all without leaving the comfort of your home,” the organization said. “These sessions will be open only to those who register for the event in advance, so secure your spot today.”
