OTTAWA –

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting 20 new cases of COVID-19 in the city for Monday, July 20, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 2,244.

Of those lab-confirmed cases, 83 per cent (1,863) have been resolved.

There are 118 actve cases of COVID-19 in the city, according to OPH. Five people are in hospital – one in intensive care.

OPH has not reported a death due to the virus since June 25. The local death toll has remained at 263.

The public health agency is reporting six ongoing institutional outbreaks. Health care workers and first responders account for 573 of Ottawa’s cases.

Ontario reported 164 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday (July 19) marking the second straight day the case count has exceeded 160.

There were 166 new cases reported on Saturday. In the previous eight days, the number of new cases has not exceeded 130.

Ontario health officials say 48 of the new cases are from Peel Region while another 37 are in the Windsor-Essex area.

Three additional deaths have been recorded, bringing the provincial total to 2,751.
