Ottawa has first COVID-19 death in over a month
OTTAWA – Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting the first COVID-19 related death in the city in over a month, in addition to 25 new lab-confirmed cases of the virus.
The death brings the city’s overall total to 264.
There have now been 2,468 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, with 1,935 (78.4 per cent) of those cases resolved.
OPH says there are 269 active cases of the virus in the community. Following more than a week of double-digit daily increases, that number has ballooned from the sub-200 number just a week and a half ago.
Sixteen of the new cases reported in Ottawa were in people under the age of 30, with five in kids under 10.
