OPS share new details in attempted spring abduction
NEPEAN — Ottawa Police are chasing down a man alleged to have demanded a 12-year-old girl get in his vehicle last spring.
“The Ottawa Police Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section (SACA) is investigating a suspicious incident involving a 12-year-old girl that occurred in the 1000 block of Merivale Road on Monday, May 6 at approximately 5:22 p.m.,” the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) released in a statement.
Now that the OPS has a photo, they are reaching out to the community in an effort to arrest the suspect.
Last May, a male suspect, in a vehicle, approached the girl while she was walking towards a retail establishment. When she exited the store the male told her to get into his vehicle. The girl immediately fled on foot.
The male is described as a black male in his 30s, with a receding hairline and a blemish on the side of his nose. The male spoke English with a slight accent. The male was driving an older model light grey Toyota Camry or Honda Accord type four-door vehicle. Investigators are concerned there may be similar incidents involving the male and is asking the public to contact them if they have any further information.
