OPS board to take public police budget input Nov. 14

OTTAWA – Share your Ottawa police budget priorities with the Ottawa Police Services board on Nov. 14.

“The Ottawa Police Services (OPS) board would like to invite community members wishing to address the board on the 2020 Ottawa Police budget to its Finance and Audit committee meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14,, at 10 a.m., in the Colonel By Room of Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. West,” the board released in a statement today (Nov. 6).

Delegations will be given up to five minutes to speak. Those looking to be added to the speakers list are asked to contact Krista Ferraro at krista.ferraro@ottawa.ca by end of day Nov. 11.

The 2020 Draft Operating and Capital Budgets were tabled by the board at a special meeting on Nov. 6. The draft budget documents can be accessed online at https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/news-and-community/resources/2020-draft-budget-book.pdf.  

The budget will be going before the board for approval at its Nov. 25 meeting, which begins at 4 p.m., in the Champlain Room of Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. West. Council will be considering the police budget at its meeting on Dec. 11.

The Ottawa Police Services Board is the civilian body responsible for governing the Ottawa Police Service.  It is responsible for ensuring the provision of adequate and effective police services to the City of Ottawa’s residents.
