ARNPRIOR – A 46-year-old woman is facing arson charges following a weekend fire on Sheffield Street.

The Arnprior Fire Department responded to the incident Saturday night (March 2). Upon arrival fire crews found the remains of a mattress and curtain fire in an apartment unit. The fire already been extinguished by a Community Living staff member who had attacked the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

Renfrew OPP have charged Orpha Breen in connection with the fire.  It is estimated the assisted-living unit sustained $50,000 dollars in damage, but other apartments in the dwelling remain habitable.

Sheffield Street is located between Reid Brothers and Island View Suites in Arnprior.
