OPH reports 45 new COVID-19 cases, one related death
OTTAWA – As the second wave of COVID-19 heads in to December, Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting another local death and 45 cases.
As of Friday, Dec. 4, there are 31 Ottawa institutions dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks, nine of which are in schools. The latest school outbreak is at St. Catherine School, where one student and one staff member have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Centre d’accueil Champlain is the latest long-term care home to declare a COVID-19 outbreak. There are still five community outbreaks of the virus being tracked by OPH: three linked to workplaces, and two stemming from social events.
OPH says it knows of 383 active cases of COVID-19 in the community.
There are 30 local residents hospitalized with the virus – one in intensive care.
Ottawa’s pandemic death toll is now at 379.
There have been 8,653 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city since March, of which 7,891 have been resolved.
