Noon-hour crashes on 417 near Palladium
KANATA – Ottawa paramedics attended to an extreme fender-bender on the Queensway this afternoon near the Palladium Drive exit.
“At 12:25 p.m. today (Aug. 10), paramedics, along with partners from our allied agencies responded to Highway 417 eastbound near Palladium Drive for reports of a motor vehicle collision,” the Ottawa Paramedic Service released in a statement today. “Based on preliminary information received from the scene, our communication centre dispatched additional units for a total of two separate collisions which had occurred approximately 100 meters from each other.”
In the first collision, a female in her 30s sustained “minor musculoskeletal injuries” and was stabilized prior to being transported to the Ottawa Trauma Centre in stable condition.
A second collision site, slightly east of the first, resulted in two men requiring assessment.
“Minutes prior to paramedic arrival, one of the drivers had stepped out of his disabled car and was struck by a passing vehicle,” the paramedics said. “Thankfully he did not sustain any injuries as a result. Ultimately both patients assessed on scene declined transport to hospital.”
The paramedic service would like to remind all motorists to slow down and move over when approaching the site of a possible collision. Always give space to emergency vehicles.
