NCJHL, Inferno to start play without contact Jan. 8

WEST CARLETON – The National Capital Junior C Hockey League (NCJHL) has come up with a date to start this year’s season.

“This evening the league met and has decided to start the regular season on Jan. 8, 2021,” NCJHL officials released in a statement Monday (Nov. 9) evening. “The season will consist of 18 regular season games, followed by playoffs.”

There may be substantial rule changes as the league progresses and adapts to COVID-19 protocols.

“The hockey will be non-contact to start off with but may be changed at any point following Hockey Eastern Ontario’s back to hockey mandate,” the NCJHL said.

The West Carleton Inferno will be playing their third season in the league. Last year, the team fell short of the playoffs after a tough loss in the last game of the season. The team looks to make the playoffs in its third year.

The NCJHL is a 10-team league with franchises located in and around the Ottawa area. The league plays in the Junior C division.

The West Carleton Inferno released the dates of its training and selection camp which starts this Saturday (Nov. 14) and continues for a week. You can find more information on registering here.
