Names released in Monday’s fatal 417 multi-vehicle collision

HWY. 417 – The names of those involved in the fatal collision on Sunday (July 7) have been released.

Michael Bourque, 36-years-old, was killed after driving his vehicle in the wrong way down Highway 417 just west of the Panmure exit while fleeing from police.

The multi-vehicle collision also claimed the life of 62-year-old Corinne Monette and sent two men in their 20s to hospital.

Bourque was being investigated by Ottawa Police and the OPP for an alleged sexual assault of a child at a hotel in Kanata. An investigation has been launched by the Special Investigations Unit because Bourque’s vehicle was involved in a police pursuit.

Constables maintain the chase was called off before the crash occurred and eye-witnesses have confirmed that.

Witnesses at the scene say the driver didn’t try to swerve or avoid the vehicles he struck.
