MVCA hosts flood open houses next week, no date for C Bay meet yet

WEST CARLETON – Key players in spring freshet monitoring, the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is hosting a series of open houses to discuss the 2019 extreme flooding in its watershed.

“The MVCA will be hosting a series of open houses to provide an opportunity for residents affected by the flood to discuss the state of their property with staff, as well as educate the public regarding this spring’s flood event,” community relations coordinator Shannon Gutoskie released in a statement yesterday.

The first and closest to West Carleton open house will be held on Monday, June 3, in Carleton Place at MVCA’s office at 10970 Highway 7. The second will be in McDonald’s Corners on Tuesday, June 4. Both events will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Additional open houses will be held in Constance Bay and in Cloyne at a later date.

“A presentation will be provided by MVCA general manager Sally McIntyre at 4:30 p.m. on both dates,” Gutoskie said.

The MVCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities in Ontario. Formed in 1968, MVCA’s mandate is to manage the watershed’s resources in partnership with our eleven member municipalities and the Province of Ontario. For more information, visit www.mvc.on.ca, follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook.
