More rain on the way starting Wednesday

WEST CARLETON – The water is coming up from the ground in West Carleton and Wednesday (May 1) morning it will coming down from the heavens in large amounts.

“Rain is expected to return to the region beginning early Wednesday morning and ending early Thursday morning,” Environment Canada released in a statement today. “Total rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 mm are forecast. Rain may be mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain along the Ottawa Valley, which will result in reduced rainfall amounts.”

The ground has limited ability to absorb further rainfall. Flood messaging is in effect for much of Central and Eastern Ontario.

“This rainfall is associated with a Texas low that will track across Southern Ontario Wednesday and Wednesday night,” Environment Canada said.
