Mississippi water levels return to normal

MISSISSIPPI VALLEY WATERSHED — After a rainy August, water levels have returned to normal in the Mississippi Valley Watershed the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) says.

“With the precipitation received over the last month, conditions across the watershed have returned to normal for this time of year,” MVCA water resource technologist Jennifer North said. “As a result, the MVCA is terminating the Level I Low Water statement for the entire watershed.”

With continuing rain in the forecast and preparations underway for the fall drawdown on the upper lakes, stream flows are expected to remain at seasonal conditions into the fall.

The MVCA will continue to monitor conditions and report new information as it becomes available. Daily water levels and flows are available on the MVCA website.
