Missing teenagers found safe in park
ALGONQUIN PARK – It’s a happy ending to a scary story featuring two young teenage girls lost in Algonquin Park
The two teenage girls, Maya Mirota and Marta Malek, who were missing in Algonquin Park have been found safe.
The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed this afternoon (July 15) the 16-year-olds were tracked down by a canine team just before noon. The girls, both from the Kitchener area, were found in “great” condition.
At the time, OPP spokesperson Bill Dickson didn’t know exactly where they were found or how far it was from where they were supposed to meet up with the rest of the group they were camping with. The girls were reported missing on Friday after they failed to show up at a meeting site with the rest of the group. Police had said both girls are experienced campers and had a tent with limited supplies.
